Biography

Eric Kleinertz is a skilled attorney with a focus in patent and trademark prosecution, with a robust background in physics.  

Eric excels in counseling clients with patent prosecution matters. Uniquely, he offers client-tailored patent portfolio development and management with a strong focus on matching patent and trademark prosecution to domestic and foreign business strategy. In a similar vein, he has extensive experience with opinion work, including freedom to operate opinions, patentability review, invalidity opinions, and trademark clearance.    

Representative Experience:  

  • Collaborated with a Japanese client to devise a patent prosecution strategy consistent with the client’s goals in both U.S. and global pursuits. 
  • Curated several design patent portfolios for consumer goods, many of which comprised more than fifty covered products and corresponding applications.  
  • Collaborated with a European client to modify European patent families for prosecution within the United States, in view of challenging subject matter eligibility requirements in bioinformatics.  

With a background in physics and industrial manufacturing, Eric has aided in the prosecution of patents pertaining to medical devices, consumer appliances, green energy, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and more. 

Eric received his B.S. in Physics in 2016 from New York University where he held an executive position in the Society of Physics Students. Prior to Law School, he worked with manufacturing and aerospace industry leaders as an industrial machinery broker. Eric’s experience in Intellectual Property began in the pro bono legal service provider, Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy Clinic. After earning the Intellectual Property, Media & Information Law Certificate while studying in Brooklyn Law School, he received his J.D. in 2021.
